I didn’t expect it to happen – and I wasn’t a believer of it – but I can say it out loud, it was love at first sight! Generally, I’m not drawn to hues that are on the deep brown spectrum. I feel like they look harsh against my fair complexion. But, Milani Amore’s Matte Lip Crème in Loved was a pleasant surprise.
After applying it for the first time, I was so delighted to see the lovely terra cotta shade on my lips. It’s both unique and striking color on one’s pout, and it reminded me of the trending lip color that’s now big on fashion runways – which is a sincere homage to the ‘90s grunge look (all the chalky brown lips against porcelain skin). Back then, lip liner was all the rage, and women wore their lacquer completely opaque and matte.
My deep fondness to this lipstick is carried on to its heavenly smell – it’s packed with sweet notes of vanilla. Personally, I think it’s important for a lip product to smell good because it’s applied so close to your nose, so the experience must be pleasant!
More so, I was particularly impressed with the texture of the Milani Amore’s Matte Lip Crème in Loved because it was velvety to the touch, and it was oh-so-easy to apply. My experience with other matte liquid lipsticks is that they dry too fast as you’re applying them that you aren’t able to properly apply the product without making mistakes.
As for its long-wearing power, this one from Milani passed the test with flying colors. Not only did it last all throughout the day but it also managed to still look smooth on my lips (even though it honestly felt a bit dry by midday).
Overall, the love at first sight seems to have a great and lasting effect. I even want to share the feeling – can’t wait to recommend this product to all my girlfriends who are always on the go, and can’t be bothered for a minute or two of touching up.
