You’re all set to start your wedding countdown and you’ve locked in the big three suppliers: venue, photographer, and videographer. But did you know that there are other smaller expenses that actually add up and aren’t usually counted in your initial budgets? Here are five sneaky expenses you need to watch out for:
You want to look flawless for your big day so it’s almost a given you’re going to start taking monthly (if not weekly) trips to the derma and gym to make sure your skin and body look their best. Makeup trials are also on the pricey side, so we suggest you plan it for the day of your bachelorette—so you can put that beautiful face to good use, at the same time, practice the ideal look you want with your makeup artist!
While it is common practice for the bridesmaids and maid of honor to foot the bill for the party, you will still have to pay for your travel expenses, hotel room, dress, etc. (in the event of an out-of-town party) for the event. It is also common courtesy to offer to chip in for the occasion.
Marriage licenses don’t cost a whole lot in the Philippines, but if you are marrying a foreigner, you will also have to take into account the price of their country’s license and possible seminars. While priests and ministers often don’t have a set fee, it is often suggested that you make a considerable donation to their parish, and it should be of a decent sum.
It is another common practice that you cover all meals of suppliers on your wedding day and if you are having a destination wedding, you will need to cover their airline tickets and accommodations as well. The larger the number of suppliers, the more you will have to spend. We highly recommend you make the investment to give them delicious meals and not just fast-food in styrofoam. A nice touch is to also have lechon, rice, and soft drinks for the drivers of your guests since they will have to stay out quite late while the party continues!
It is a lovely touch to think of a meaningful present for your bridesmaids and groomsmen—to say thank you to them for taking care of you and your partner these last few months. Jewelry, scarves, or cufflinks are nice timeless options!
