There is nothing quite like the sense of smell to immediately transport you back in time, which is why it’s important to choose the right fragrance for an occasion as monumental as your wedding day. Here are some tips to help you choose the right scent for this life-changing event:
- Note Your Partner’s Preferences: In the same way that you can’t get married alone, the scent you choose should be something you both enjoy. There are four popular fragrance families: floral, oriental, woody, and fresh. Take into account the scent family he compliments you on or what he wears himself. That way you both can enjoy a trip down memory lane when you decide to spritz.
- Take into Account the Type of Wedding You’re Having: Are you going to get married on a white sand beach? Get in the mood with a fragrance laced with vanilla or coconut. Perhaps you’re heading to wedded bliss in a more traditional indoor venue like a church? Why not choose something more floral. A garden wedding? A scent with crisp notes of citrus or grass might work best.
- Cologne or Perfume: If you want your scent to last longer, we recommend choosing an Eau de Parfum over an Eau de Toilette (which has a higher alcohol to oil content). Be sure to apply in places where your body’s natural heat will help diffuse the fragrance, such as the inside of your wrist, behind your ears, nape and base of your neck.
- Customize Your Fragrance: Take your special fragrance even a step further by customizing it just for you. If there aren’t any custom fragrance bars around, you can do this by layering two different fragrances to give you a combination from two different scent families. Play with citrus and warm or woodsy and floral. The possibilities are endless and unique.
