They say every scar is a story. But oftentimes, it’s a visual reminder we’d rather wish away. Here are some ways you can treat them.
Dark scars
That big red bump that’s been keeping you company for the last few days or that bad scrape you had on your knee has finally vanished, but it’s left a dark spot in its wake. You can safely lighten the mark with Vitamin C or Vitamin A to help show newer skin just waiting below the surface to shine. Deep face scars
If your acne scars are deep from a bad cystic acne cycle or a recent chicken pox breakout, I highly suggest asking your dermatologist about professional chemical peels or laser treatments to help even out the skin’s layer. Also know that your body needs time to rebuild collagen in the area and deep scars do look better with a little patience. It’s also good to note that prevention is better than a remedy so as soon as you feel an acne bump coming along, treat it with a spot treatment like Papulex Gel or head to your dermatologist for a cortisone shot. For chicken pox, it is highly recommended that you stay strong and don’t pick on the wounds at all.
Raised scars
You’ve just delivered your bundle of joy via cesarean and are ready to get back into that bikini. Unfortunately, you’ve been left with a raised scar you’d rather never see the light of day. Otherwise known as a keloid, these type of scars can be treated using silicone sheets or gels that can be purchased at your nearest drugstore or corticosteroid injections to reduce inflammation.
