9-to-5ers have it hard—or at least, their skin does. Sitting in an office with artificial sub-arctic temperatures all day then walking into a wall of heat when you get out of work is enough to wreak havoc on anyone’s skin. Dullness, dryness, uneven skin and redness are common problems of the office-going type, made worse under the unflattering glare of fluorescent lights.
Counteract the harsh effects of office environments and stress on your skin by taking a few simple steps.
- Hydrate. Have a water bottle at your desk at all times and be sure to constantly refill it throughout the day. Don’t skip out on your eight glasses a day; your skin will thank you for it. Add a few slices of lemon in your water to alkalinize it.
- Spritz. I like to keep a bottle of spray-on mist at hand to provide instant hydration and comfort to my tired-looking skin. Pixi Glow Mist is my favorite thing to spray on when my skin is looking lackluster. It also has the great smell of blended botanicals which gives me an instant reset and makes me feel rejuvenated in the middle of a long day.
- Lip Balm. Lips are one of the driest parts of are body. Prevent cracking by using It’s Skin Macaron Lip Balm which comes in the cutest packaging I’ve ever seen.
- Hand Cream. Our hands are probably the hardest working part of our bodies. Constant typing and texting, carrying and washing have left them overused and, for the most part, greatly ignored. Use a rich hand cream that uses natural oils to soothe and restore softness to the hands and cuticles. Try Bliss Glow of Hands Moisture Duo.
- SPF. People who stay indoors everyday are more sensitive to the sun and its harsh rays because their complexions are simply not use to it. Sunscreen is mandatory and VMV Armada is the best product on the market when it comes to sun blocks.
- Snack Smart. Skip the chips and coffee which dry your skin out and bloat you. Instead, have coconut water, nuts, dark chocolate and fruit.
