Other than learning to cheer myself on and say, “Aja aja fighting!!!” when the going gets tough, K-Dramas have also taught me the importance of skin care, and it doesn’t matter if you’re an ahjumma, a noona, a tita, or a teen.
It made me realize that no matter how bad life gets, it pays to have perfect skin to look back at the mirror to. Thankfully, in the middle of all that’s happening (personal and worldly issues alike), there’s the surge of Korean skin trends that’s making all the necessary beauty products more accessible to us, and the road to perfect skin, well, more achievable.
The latest skin trend is all about Cloudless Skin, and if that’s making you question its difference with Glass skin, here’s a primer on the skin types:
Origin: Ever took a long look at the sky after it rains? It’s bright and clear and cloudless! True to its name, Cloudless Skin is the term to describe skin that’s absolutely spotless, flawless, and radiant, with no discoloration.
Definition: More than being blemish-free, Cloudless Skin also takes into consideration the overall health of your skin. It means having healthy and happy skin that results from one’s positive well-being.

Cloudless Skin and Glass Skin are simply variations of “perfect skin” by Korean standard. While one gives emphasis on a clear and bright complexion, the other focuses on having a translucent finish and a texture that’s smooth to touch.
And as opposed to covering imperfections with makeup, the trend now (and forever, hopefully!) is achieving perfect skin by prevention and repair, committing to an effective skin care regimen, coupled with a happy disposition and a healthy lifestyle.
