I used to absolutely abhor lotion, conditioner and moisturizer that feel sticky to the skin. Maybe because I was born and raised in the tropics where humidity is already a given.
To add to that, my skin is already on the oily side so all my life I have avoided moisturizer. I say “used to” because now I have hit the age of 40, I realize that my skin produces lots of oil partially because it needs moisture.
When I was given the task of reviewing Tony Moly’s “I’m Real” Rich Avocado Cream, I’ll be honest – I wasn’t excited. I’m new to this moisturizing step and I guess my reaction is just normal. The word “cream” makes me think of the ooey and gooey and makes me reach for a box of tissue faster than you can say yuck. Surprisingly, despite it’s rich texture, the cream which goes on thick melts into the skin and sinks in quickly. It smells pleasantly fresh and clean, and if you leave it on for 5 minutes, does not leave a film or residue.
My pro tip is taking an oil blotter before applying any makeup and I guarantee foundation will glide on smoothly. This makes an awesome night cream especially for nighttime use and as an all-around moisturizer in cool climates.
