Maybelline launched its newest line of lipsticks, Color Sensational The Loaded Bolds. It’s an exciting 20-shade collection of unique and, of course, BOLD colors. Among the 20 beautiful colors to choose from, I chose seven of my favorites for a good swatching test! Let’s get to it.
Unless your skin is VERY fair, it’s not as bold as I would have expected. But it’s such a sweet color for a night out. And it provides a good amount of pigment.
This shade is for those feeling that ‘90s nostalgia. It’s a nice milk chocolate / hot cocoa color to match with a thick, black winged liner.
This one is a nice playful color. For those just testing the waters in their bold lippie choices, I think this is a good start. Kickin’ it up a notch with the vibrancy of the color should be your next step.
Midnight Date couldn’t be a better name for this. Or maybe we could call it the “2nd Date” lippie shade. Wear this on your second date to show him you’ve got a sexy (and of course fierce) side to you.
Not everyone appreciates the black lip the way I do but this to me is BOLD. Downplay the pure gothic look by making sure your foundation and powder isn’t too white, and stick to neutrals for your eyeshadows!
Finding the right red for your skin tone is so important and personally, this is one of the very few shades I’ve found that I love. It doesn’t make my skin look super yellow, and not too dark.
Like most white lipsticks, it isn’t as pigmented, and has patchy areas where you can still see my lip. But definitely a keeper for a once-in-a-while bold shoot or even Halloween!
THE VERDICT
Overall, I found Maybelline’s Color Sensational The Loaded Bolds to have a good variety of shades for both the adventurous beauty junkies and the beginners to the bold lippie movement. My favorite part about trying the different shades is that they go on smooth and don’t dry out throughout the day. Also, removing the product from my lips wasn’t stressful. Sometimes when trying on lipstick (especially red shades) the color can smear and stain. With the colors above, my lips were a fresh blank canvas in between takes every time.
My top three faves are Chocoholic, Smoking Red, and Pitch Black. Go ahead, be fierce, try these lippies, and tell us which ones are your favorite shades!
