Bold lipstick hues like red, pink and purple are all the rage these days but a flattering nude hue transcends trends, and will always remain a make up staple.
As a self-confessed girly-girl who’s rather conservative, I tend to gravitate towards lip hues that complement my natural features, and veer away from anything too experimental like black or anything-frosty. This probably explains why I have roughly fifty percent more nude lippies than bold-colored ones. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love a good red just like any make up enthusiast but I find that I am most comfortable when I wear nudes. I think my hubby will agree too as he has never been a huge fan of red lips. I think most guys think this way—to them, the more natural their girlfriends or wives look, the better.
One of my requirements when it comes to picking out a nude hue is its undertone. Anything that is too pale ends up making me look sick so a nude lip hue with a pinkish (or peachy) undertone like this one is great. The texture is neither creamy or matte—a wonderful in-between finish that feels comfortably moisturizing, and makes lips look healthy, like a better version of the lips you were born with.
I was impressed with how strong the pigment of this lippie was—one swipe was enough to impart color all over yet it didn’t at all feel heavy on my lips. I used it for both day and night. For a lunch meeting, I paired it with champagne lids, bronzer, groomed brows, and two coats of black mascara. For an evening event, I simply added darker brownish hues to my peepers, drew winged eyeliner, and added gloss on top of the lippie.
I’m proud to say that the lip color lasted for both occasions—and I got a ton of compliments! This one’s definitely a keeper.
