Shape: Round
This means that the face looks full. It is just as long as it is wide with it being widest at the cheekbones. Jawline and forehead have the same width.
Makeup Technique:
For this face shape, contouring is your best friend. Use a matte bronzer to enhance your cheekbones and give your face more angles. With an angled contour brush along the sides of your face, apply the bronzer in the shape of ‘3’ starting at the hairline by the temples, going out under the cheekbones, and lightly shading the jawline. Highlight at the forehead, nose line and chin to add the illusion of length to the face. Apply blush in a slanted upward way to make the cheekbones pop.
Shape: Oval
This is the most desired face shape because of its perfect proportions. The forehead is the widest part of your face and it narrows out at the cheeks and chin. The eyes are the perfect distance from each other which is an eye length apart.
Makeup Technique:
If the face is too long, use a little bronzer at the tip of the chin and at the hairline to shorten the length of the face. Highlight under the eyes, nose line and forehead using an illuminating cream to bring attention to the center of the face and bring focus on the eyes. Apply blush right at the apples of the cheeks to enhance the cheekbones.
Shape: Square
The bone structure is very prominent with this face shape. Foreheads and jawlines are very pronounced.
Makeup Technique:
Use bronzer at the temples and jawline of the face to make the features looks softer. Do not contour the nose. The goal here is to soften the angles in the face so apply blush and bronzer using round strokes and blend well. Soft blush colors and highlighters look great on this face shape.
