Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and of course every Calyxta girl wants to have the best date night look of the evening. Whether you’ve planned a romantic wine-and-dine night or a day filled with adrenaline-fueled activities, here’s a few beauty suggestions to make your date’s heart flutter once he lays his eyes on you.
All natural: Dinner and a movie
It may be a safe bet but the dinner-and-movie date is still a favorite. Show up for it naturally pretty. Here’s how:
- Smooth on some primer and foundation on a clean face, then set with loose powder.
- Define your brows with a brow pencil and soften with brow powder.
- Dab light brown eyeshadow on your lids and apply two coats of mascara on your lashes. No need for eyeliner since you’re going for a relaxed look.
- Swipe on creamy pink blush on the apples of your cheeks—just enough to look like you’re blushing slightly.
- Cap off the look with some light pink glossy lipstick.
- You can wear your hair up in a loose bun or just let your locks loose for a truly romantic look.
Healthy glow: Laser tag
A date involving physical or competitive activities will definitely break the ice. Bonus points for having something to laugh about afterwards… or in succeeding dates *wink*! The challenge is to make your hair and makeup stay put even after sweating it out.
- Best to wear your hair in a high ponytail or braids if you have long hair, or use a headband if you have shorter locks.
- For your makeup, primer is your friend since it will lock in everything.
- Foundation may streak and melt so use waterproof tinted moisturizer instead. If you’ll be under the sun, use one with SPF. Tinted moisturizer or BB and CC creams may have lighter coverage but it’s enough to make your skin look glowing.
- For the rest of your face, use powder on your brows and seal it in with clear brow gel.
- Waterproof mascara on your lashes open up peepers
- Some lip-and-cheek tint on said areas will give you a nice flush.
Bold and beautiful: A concert
Going to see your favorite band or artist, whether at a gig at a bar or a concert at an arena definitely makes for a fun night. Plus, you’ll always remember this date whenever you hear a song the band played that night.
- Spray on some sea salt on damp hair and let your hair air-dry to sexy waves around your shoulders. For more defined waves, you can opt to braid your hair for a few hours after spraying and then shake loose just before you head out.
- Put on some primer and foundation on your face and top it off with loose powder for staying power throughout a night of music and dancing.
- It’ll be dark in the venue so now’s a good time to emphasize your eyes. Trace your brows with a brow pencil then lock the strands in with an eyebrow gel and for very defined brows.
- Now let’s do the smokey eye. With a medium-sized eyeshadow brush, blend a dark eyeshadow shade of your choice in an arch shape just above your crease, then blend it down towards the lash line. With a smaller brush, trace the lower lash line with a lighter shade that complements the previous one you used. Trace your upper lids with a kohl pencil and smudge with your fingertip. Apply a shimmery shade to the inner corners of your eyes. Pile on the mascara.
- Brush your cheeks with bronzer.
- Swipe your lips with dark red (or any dark colored) matte lipstick.
