Powder: This type of blush is the most common because it is so easy to use. It’s suitable for all skin types. If you have oily skin, this type of blush is your best option. Stay way from blushes with a lot of shimmer in it to avoid skin looking too shiny or try a matte blush if you want your skin to have a velvety finish. Pick a color that is similar to your lip color, just a few shades brighter.
Cream: Works best on normal and dry skin because the emollients in the cream give added moisture to the skin. If you have flakey skin, this is the blush for you because creamy products spread smoothly and de-emphasize roughness in the skin. Cream blush is great if you are trying to get that glowing-from-within look. It’s highly pigmented so use it sparingly. Bright, pearlized colors bring a healthy flush to otherwise dull, sallow skin.
Liquid, Gel or Tints: The most natural looking of all blushes because of its sheer coverage. You know that beautiful glow you get after a workout? That is the effect that liquid blush gives. It is very easy to apply, just blend with your fingers. Be sure to act quickly though as it tends to dry up fast. Liquid blushes can be used as lip tints as well. Try using a berry colored tint as this is flattering for all skin tones.
Makeup Artist Tip: Blush lasts longer when it is layered. I like to put cream blush on first, set with translucent powder, then add a little bit of powder blush on top of it. Doing this keeps the color vibrant and staying on all day.
