Beach Make Up Essentials

When it comes to beach and poolside make up, there are definite do’s and don’ts . Less is always more unless you want to be that person whose make up melts down their face. Summer is a time to confidently downsize your cosmetics kit. Here are the essentials:

Sunblock. Use a facial sunblock that is SPF 50. I like to use one that is oil-free so it doesn’t clog the pores. Also, oil-free sunblock acts as a better base for make up, it isn’t as greasy so it’ll last longer.

Tinted Moisturizer or BB Cream. Summer is not the time for full coverage foundation. Stick to something that’s sheer and that makes skin look its best.

Lip and cheek tint. The quintessential summer product. Nothing gives you a summer glow quite like a lip and cheek tint. I love that it is multipurpose, which means there is less to lug around! Pick one that is waterproof so it stays on even after taking a dip.

Bronzer. Avoid being the pasty person by the pool by using a bronzer. Tan the healthy way and use semi-permanent liquid bronzer all over your body a day or two before getting in a bikini. It’ll look like you got a headstart on summer. Also, pack a liquid or powder bronzer for the face to enhance your summer glow.

Brown eyeliner. Whether liquid or kohl, make sure it is waterproof. Apply a thin line as close as possible to the eyelashes to keep it as natural looking as possible.

Waterproof mascara. Curl your lashes and swipe on two thin coats of mascara. Make sure it’s waterproof so it stays budge-proof all day whether you are in or out of the water.

Lip balm. Your lips are going to be parched after a day spent exposed to sun and salt water. Keep a tube of lip balm handy at all times. If it has SPF, all the better.

Sea Salt Spray. After a day at the beach, comb through damp hair and spritz evenly on your hair. Allow to air dry. This will give you piece-y, disheveled, gorgeous beach waves that are perfect for any summer occasion.
