7 Products I Want to Try from Calyxta

I’ve been doing my makeup for maybe a year or two by now, and there’s so much for me to learn. Admittedly, I haven’t been the best when it comes to experimenting with makeup products because I’m afraid of buying products and finding out they’ll make me look weird, or damage my skin. I’ve tried to be very careful about my makeup purchases because of my sensitive skin and my equally sensitive budget, but I’d like to change that this year.

Since interning for Calyxta, I’ve been inspired to play with my makeup a little more. I’ve also been exposed to a lot of makeup products that I would have glossed over when I’m out buying makeup, but turn out to do so much for your skin! With all that in mind, here is a list of things I’d love to try from Calyxta.

There are days where I pull all-nighters and it shows, and I get pimples on days where I think my skin is smooth enough to handle a full face of makeup. I used to carry around a concealer with a bunch of color correctors, which can get a little bulky—but I’d like to try out Missha’s Closing Cover Palette as it promises to do everything my little set of concealing products can do. But hopefully better so my makeup bag gets a little lighter.

A few friends of mine swear by this specific eyeliner, and I can definitely see why. This eyeliner promises intense color the whole day, without smudging or coming off when it rains. The Hypersharp Liner Power Black also comes with a skinny and sharp tip, which helps you put on a precise winged eyeliner: a look I would love to master so I can put it on whenever I feel like it without worrying that I’ll ruin my eyeshadow.

I’ve been meaning to try more all-natural products ever since I started putting on makeup, and Hello Gorgeous just seems like a good place to start! I’ve heard about how their skin care products are great, and their makeup products definitely look promising. The eyeshadow looks, well, gorgeous, and they’re all in colors I could wear to school or for when I feel like playing around with aesthetic eyeshadow looks that I find on Pinterest.

Part of my resolution for the new year was experimenting with makeup products I don’t really use, which include brow products. I’ve used brow products before, but I gave up after I got my hair colored because the product I owned didn’t suit me and I just gave up trying to look for an appropriate shade. My cousin recommended I try a brow powder to help me sculpt the perfect brow, and I feel like Rimmel’s brow sculpting kit will help me get the hang of doing my brows again!

Lipstick that stays on no matter what is hard to come by. I’ve splurged on a lot of lippies that promise to stay on your lips the whole day, but so far I haven’t found one that stayed on after I have a meal. So, when I had a friend recommend this brand I immediately wanted to hop on it. The brand itself describes their lippies as “waterproof, kiss-proof, and transfer-proof,” and they’re available in a vast range of nudes, reds, and pinks.

I’ve tried a lot of highlighters, and used a lot of products as highlighters. I’ve used cream highlighters, which didn’t give me a lot. At the advice of the Internet, I used my shimmer eyeshadows as highlighters because powders work for my skin type better. Before I conclude my search for the perfect highlighter for good, I’d love to get to try the W7 Night Glow Highlighter and Illuminator, a liquid highlighter that promises to give my skin an all-out glow.

This year, I’m also branching out to also applying setting powder to see if I can go through a day without sweating my makeup off. I’ve heard a lot of buzz about Innisfree’s products, and I’d love to be able to see for myself what their products can do for me. This product in particular promises to smooth out your complexion while controlling your skin’s oil production.
