As you may already know, my beauty obsessions are largely influenced by K-Beauty trends—a.k.a. inspired by the lead females of the current shows I’m watching.
K-Drama aficionados, can you relate? Here, we take cues from five current K-drama protagonists and their signature looks:
Jung So-min as Yoo Jin-kang in The Smile Has Left Your Eyes
The Look: Throughout the drama (so far!), the warm-hearted advertising professional maintains a dewy complexion, groomed but natural-looking brows, and imperceptibly curled lashes—all as she gives us deep stares and blank expressions.
Key Essentials: Face Republic’s BB cream is lightweight (best used with the sunscreen that works as well as a primer!) and results in a dewy finish. Kiss Me Heroine’s Long Curl Mascara gives your lashes the lift without the clumpy volume!
Chae Soo-bin as Han Yeo-reum in Where Stars Land
The Look: Since she works at Incheon Airport, the clumsy yet positive-spirited Yeo-reum’s look is always corporate chic, which means a bit formal, not too trendy, and always presentable.
Key Essentials: Working long hours doesn’t have to look it. Keep a stress-free complexion with Rivecowe’s CC Cream and look wide awake with Kiss Me Heroine’s Make Volume & Curl Mascara Super WP.
Nam Ji-hyun as Yeon Hong-sim in 100 Days My Prince
The Look: Hong-sim is a strong-willed woman who is the type who can’t tolerate any nonsense. Living in a historical era in Joseon, her look is very traditional (no gradient lips, no winged eyeliners, please!), which focuses on porcelain white skin and red lips.
Key Essentials: Work on a perfect base, using Banila Co’s Prime Primer Classic and Aritaum’s Full Cover Liquid Concealer and BB Cream. This Rivecowe Chiffon Lipstick in Red is a Joseon dynasty-approved lip color!
Krystal as Cha Ah-Ryung in The Player
The Look: Fearless Cha Ah-Ryung lives her life on the run (she’s rarely seen off her motorbike or car!) and is badass in every way. While she often wears baggy tank tops, boyish shirts, and pants, she’s drop dead gorgeous when glammed up, too. We love her super sleek hair, sharp eyes, and a bold lip.
Key Essentials: This Clio Waterproof Pen Liner is guaranteed to stay on your lids, no matter the action. It’s extremely easy to apply, too!
Esom as Lee Young-jae in The Third Charm
The Look: Lee Young-Jae is the modern woman we can totally relate to. She is determined, emotional, honest, and cares a lot about her looks. Being a hairdresser’s assistant, she’s updated with beauty trends. Her signature look consists of soft eyebrows, a bright orange lip, and defined, sweet-looking eyes.
Key Essentials: Get K-approved straight eyebrows with Clio’s Kill Brow Tinted Tattoo and define your eyes with the superfine Rivecowe Flexible Liquid Brushpen Eyeliner.
