3 Rainy Day Makeup Looks to Brighten Your Day

Pack away the swimsuits and suntan lotion because sweater weather is soon upon us, folks. Don’t let the gloomiest part of the year get you down though. While looking cute in a raincoat or under the pouring rain isn’t easy, you can always add a dose of chic and glamour to your everyday beauty routine. Need some inspo? Here are three rainy day makeup looks to try for yourself:

The sun may not be shining, but you can still sparkle and glow the whole day through. Take a cue from our latest Calyxta girl and don’t be afraid to get a little dramatic when it comes to highlighting, especially during these dreary days. With a highlighter brush, swipe any of the three, universally flattering shades from the City Color Highlight Palette (P300) on the high points of your cheeks and just under the brow bone, and blend. Repeat for added glam. Keep the shimmer streak going by using any of the shades from the Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips All-In-1 Custom Nude Palette in “Warm Nude” (P850) all over the lids to brighten eyes instantly.

Combat the grey and gloom with color, and lots of it. Instead of your usual everyday nudes, reach for a palette like the Paprika Matte and Shimmer Eyeshadow Palette (P1,695) that features nothing but bold and pigmented shades. Pack any of the colors on the center of your lids with a small, dense brush and blend those harsh edges away with a fluffier shadow brush. Finally, apply “Red Copper Shimmer” just outside your lids and blend upwards and outwards. Pair everything with an equally standout lippie, like the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink City Edition Liquid Lipstick (P299) in “Self Starter” or “Groundbreaker”.

A rainy day look doesn’t have to feature a ton of color, and you can create a fierce #FOTD with just the L’Oreal Super Liner Flash Cat Eye (P500). Line your upper lids, thickening it towards the outer corner of your eye, and create your basic wing using the detachable stencil. Going freehand, extend the wing farther until it aligns with the tail end of your brow and make sure to fill in and connect any visible gaps. Get creative and add another smaller, floating “wing” underneath. Offset your runway worthy eyes with just a hint of color by swiping on the Detail Makeover Liptint Balm (P169) in “Iris”. Lips are left looking smooth, healthy, and subtly tinted.
