What your nail shape tells about your personality
It’s easy for us to make the first impression based on someone’s twinkling eyes, bright smiles, firm glutes, and even wild hairstyles. But, have you ever wondered what different nail shapes tell about one’s personality? Or have you ever thought of choosing the nail shape that best suits your lifestyle? If you’re as interested as us then keep on reading to find out!
Round – The Pretty Girl Next Door
Round nails are quite the conservative style, and are great for casual everyday look. Our ultimate girl-next-door peg, Betty Cooper, probably files her nails this way while daydreaming about her dear Archie. This nail shape is pretty and low maintenance, as it is the one closest to most natural nail shape. It goes well with a girly sundress or a cute ensemble of tank top and shorts. Up the ante of this girl next door look with light pastel or natural shades of nail polish.
Oval nails are ultra-feminine, and give the illusion of longer and slender fingers. Perfect for those who like to keep things comfy but exceedingly classy. Most likely, this is how Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf instructs her maid Dorota to shape her nails, for her to wave them fingers at her Upper East Side minions.
Square – Team Captain or Adrenaline Junkie
Square is probably the most functional nail shape. It fits those with an active lifestyle as it does not interfere with high octane sports activities or intense workouts. But, at the same time, it also goes well with party dress outfits. Think of Blake Lively’s character Bridget in “The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants”— it appears sporty but gorgeous.
The squoval shape combines the durability of the square with the elegance of the oval. It’s for those who like to take a dip on the wild side once in a while, while still maintaining stylish comfort. Perfect for dancing around all night long in the club or raising your hands in the moshpit while head banging to your favorite band. You’ll look vampy without worrying about breaking a nail. Think Emma Watson’s hard partying Nicki in “The Bling Ring”.
While highly impractical, the Stiletto shape is undeniably chic. It may not be the best for daily wear, as it would take major skill to even tie a shoelace with these talons on. However, for the likes of Mean Girls’ Regina George who live to be in the limelight, it would be worth the hassle in exchange for the attention. And boy, all eyes will be on you for sure (or your fingertips).
