Nail Color for Every Skin Tone

By: Agoo Bengzon

Your choice of nail color can catapult you to the top.

Occupying the top spot often requires that you dress the part too. Aside from a sleek and well-fitted suit, pristine hair and make up and statement stiletto pumps, nails can also play up your look. It’s important to remember that when it comes to your tips, aside from maintaining healthy and well-groomed nails, it’s also a must to keep your nail color simple and not over-the-top. This means that you must stay away from nail art in any form, and colors that are deemed too loud, attention-calling or strange (i.e. frosted, neon, Crayola green, heavy glitter).

The best hues are those that look timeless and can easily blend in with your entire ensemble. Nude is the safest of all colors because it mimics the natural hue of your skin, and doesn’t distract too much. It’s important however to determine which category your natural complexion falls under when picking out a nude. Those with fair skin look best with pinkish or peachy tones while those with medium to tan skin tones can pull off tan or golden hues with ease.

Red is another hue that can lend a powerful yet still professional look to one’s nails. The best reds are those that fall under the blue-red category because they don’t have a strange or unflattering undertone, and look good on ALL skin tones. Red also looks especially good on short, squoval-shaped nails.

Lastly, there’s black—a fashionable choice for those who want to go a different route but still want to project a professional image. Black is the en-Vogue color that, much like an LBD, is easy to wear, goes with EVERYTHING, and always projects a modern yet polished appearance.
