As beauty addicts, we have experienced it all- trying out the latest hair service innovations, hair colors, and one day wanting it straight and the next curly. With all the chemical and heat stress we put our hair through, it’s no wonder most girls live with lackluster, brittle, dry, very damaged and sensitized hair. Unless your are willing to chop off your pretty locks, damaged hair care is something worth investing time and money on.How?
- To start, ask your hairdresser about the severity of the damage of your hair.
- Invest in at-home hair care products to help heal your damaged hair up until you can at least grow it out. Sometimes, hair is so damaged that mere chopping it off will be the easiest and quickest way to rid your hair of the damaged portions. If this is not an option and you are willing to put the time and effort to healing your hair, start off with a good quality hair masque.
- After shampooing your hair with a damage repair shampoo concentrating on the damaged parts, massage and lather product on to your hair and leave for a good 5 minutes to give product time to penetrate your strands.
- Once dry, apply a generous amount of your hair masque to the length and ends of your hair. Avoid the roots which can tend to weigh down your hair. Comb the product through your hair using a wide tooth comb to evenly distribute the product.
- Wrap your hair in a shower cap and leave for a minimum of 30 minutes to really let the product penetrate your hair strands deeply. After 30 minutes, hop back into the shower and rinse carefully and thoroughly with lukewarm water. Avoid water that is too hot or too cold.
- After you have rinsed off all the remaining products off your hair, towel dry and comb through once more.
- Before you go to bed, I highly recommend hair oils distributed to the lengths and ends of your hair again avoiding the roots to give your hair extra nurturing as you sleep.
Keep with this routine daily until around 2 weeks until you feel a noticeable difference in your hair in terms of softness and appearance. Once your hair feels and looks more nourished and less damaged, continue this routine every other day for another 2 weeks, then 3 times a week until the damaged portion of your hair has grown out or has has been remedied.
