Now that we’re well into the -ber months and Jose Marie Chan has emerged from his seasonal hibernation, it’s about time we think about what we want to give (and receive!) for the holidays. Being a naturally indecisive human being, I always look to reviews to find things that my loved ones might appreciate; to help guide all of our loyal Calyxta readers on their quest for the perfect Christmas gift idea—either for themselves or for others. So we’ve rounded up the things each of us would love to receive and why!
Being someone who has always had coarse hair, I’ve lived in constant envy of those with artista-grade locks. Unfortunately, I have yet to find something that’ll give my hair a fighting chance! So, when I saw this 20-piece treatment box from La’dor, I thought it might honestly be a dream come true; by integrating the intensive care of K-Beauty into our hair, these may just be what my curls need to finally calm down! Each capsule contains a 2-in-1 treatment formula that revitalizes hair with multiple kinds of proteins, collagen, and snail slime (a skin care fave of mine) that don’t need to be rinsed off. Another thing I’d LOVE to receive is a new fragrance, as I rarely ever buy my own. This fragrance from Soleil et Lune is the perfect daily scent for those that aren’t too big on citrus scents like me—and they’re at a great price, too!

As a beauty addict with no self-control, I must have purchased everything that was on my Calyxta wish list this year—from every Glossier favorite, to my skin care staples from COSRX, to my favorite local finds from Kala and Zenutrients. So it took me a while to think about what I’d like to receive for the holidays—until I realized that I still don’t have the one thing that I’ve added to cart (but removed) several times: Viajecito’s Splash Kit in Mint! The color is just too pretty, and I love that it’s made with silicone rubber that makes it water-resistant. I can already imagine pairing it with my swimsuits for a quick trip to the beach!

This is the best clear gloss ever! It has a glossy luster and thick consistency, but without the sticky feel. I love it because it can be used over lipstick to enhance any shade but can also be used over bare lips to achieve the “no makeup” makeup look. It’s the perfect gift for the holidays! I would definitely love to receive one!

Little things make me happy! I wear makeup every single day, so I make sure that I give my brushes a good bath at least once a week. I’ve been looking for a cheaper alternative and I heard Ellana Mineral Cosmetics’ Brush Cleaner works well; plus, it comes in two variants: fragrance-free and melon. Another thing I would love to receive is a good ole Beautyblender; since I regularly use liquid foundation, I always make sure to stock up on my favorite beauty sponge!

Perfume has never been this fab. It comes in waxy solid form which easily melts on your skin as you apply. Unfortunately, I have oily skin and my makeup melts easily—even with products that promise long-lasting effects! After reading and watching reviews of Filipina beauty gurus on makeup for oily skin, Ellana’s Loose Mineral Foundation showed up and had great reviews. I tried it together with their Sheer Velvet Powder while commuting and I noticed that my skin didn’t look greasy! It is also wearable in cold places. The mineral foundation has light coverage, but if you want to look fresh and youthful all throughout the day, this is perfect for you!

I have always had dry lips, so when I saw the Glossier Balm Dotcom, I knew I had to have it to help my lips stay hydrated. I love the cherry flavor and scent and it also looks natural upon applying it to the lips. Another thing that I would also love to receive this Christmas is the Round A ‘ound Green Tea Cica Sun Lotion because it will protect my skin from harmful sun exposure!
