The Calyxta Crew’s Ideal Valentine’s Day Date and the Look to Go with It

With the season of love upon us, we thought it’d be fun to round up our favorite date ideas (and the look to match) to help you get into the Valentine’s Day mood!

I was never the type to be into big extravagant things, so my ideal date for Valentine’s Day (and any date, TBH) is a cute stroll through the park or a fun road trip while blasting our favorite jams and eating copious amounts of junk food. A comfortable date calls for a comfortable look, so having something simple that can still accommodate my ineffable need for thick eyeliner is a must. I’d go for some light peachy pink flush and a light single-toned shadow under my usual liner to keep it simple, but still awake. Pink Sugar’s Sweet Cheeks HD Cheek Color in Summer Nights is my go-to for a natural flush—I use it so much, I’ve hit pan! Bonus tip: sweep a little bit on your nose for a cute little pop!

I’ve been married for about five months now, and to be honest, the adjustment has led to me and my husband not being able to have as many date nights as compared to when we were still boyfriend and girlfriend. My dog, Booboo, is partly to blame for this (not complaining though!)—we can’t leave him alone for too long in our home (despite having a companion—our cat, Bellatrix), and so our “date nights” usually consist of Netflix and homecooked meals (or GrabFood. Hahaha!). It would be nice to have some quality time with my husband (just us and no furbabies!) in a quiet hole-in-a-wall restaurant nearby. I’ll be sure to play up my makeup look byfilling in my brows with my favorite: Glossier Boy Brow in Brown, and adding falsies like the NYX Wicked Lashes in Jezebel. This is also the perfect excuse to swipe on a ruby red lipstick similar to L’Oreal’s Rogue Signature Matte Liquid Lipstick in the shade I Am Worth It.

Valentine’s day is not just for chocolates and flowers; it can also be a fun day to get your heart rate up with a fitness class! I’d enjoy a quick morning workout followed by good coffee and brunch. My go-to makeup look is always natural, but this Valentine’s Day I want it to be special and try something new! I want it to be a dinner date with live music at a romantic restaurant, so for my makeup, I’ll do a more defined and intense night-time look.
