The Calyxta Crew Answers: Dream Summer Destinations and What Look to Wear

With warmer days rolling in and isolation getting us a little stir crazy, we can’t help but fantasize about all the beautiful places the world has to offer. Here’s the #CalyxtaCrew’s dream summer vacays and what look we think would be perfect for it!

There was something in my brain that clicked after I watched the “Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants (2005).” From that moment, the need to go to Santorini was born, but it wasn’t until the release of “Mamma Mia (2008)” and “Mamma Mia 2 (2018)” that my desire for Grecian adventure was cemented—hopefully with a love-life just as exciting to boot! While all I can do now is play ABBA on repeat and daydream, I can at least plan my look. For both makeup and outfit, I find myself drawn to Lovi Poe’s breezy, sun-kissed aesthetic. There’s just something so effortlessly beautiful about her that, while I can’t replicate it exactly, I can hope to emulate through the smart use of makeup. The Cathy Doll Skinny Concealer Matt Bright is great because it’s so portable and multi-purpose, making it the perfect travel companion; the liquid end brightens under-eye circles while the stick end covers up blemishes. Aside from flawless skin, Lovi also has beautiful lashes that brighten up her eyes, so a generous coating of a beach-proof mascara is a must! I recommend the L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise–waterproof, smudge-proof, long-lasting, and has crazy volume! Slip on a cute (super) cropped set of co-ords and throw down your beach waves and you’re officially Greece-ready!

Havana, ooh na-na. After Camila Cabello’s successful smash hit “Havana,” I’ve gained a spark of interest for Cuba’s culture and history. Known for its brightly painted colonial-style buildings and its vintage cars, Havana is a city of character worth exploring. It’s a mix of architecture, scenic sights, and colorful stories where beauty and history co-exist. To match the colorful facades of Havana, my OOTDs would be printed maxi dresses to keep my overall look fresh and laid-back. As for my makeup, I’d keep things simple and effortless by adding dimension to my eyes using the bronze hues from the Rude in Your Face Palette. This palette is definitely a steal because of its 16 shades that can be used for contour, eyebrows, and eyeshadow! To finish my look, I’d go bold with Rom&ND’s Zero Layer Lipstick in Red Tambourine for a weightless finish!

For our honeymoon this year (which will sadly be postponed due to COVID-19), my husband and I were choosing between Central Europe and South Africa. But there’s just something about South Africa that ignites the animal lover in me. I’d love to be able to go on a safari near Cape Town, and hopefully see lions, elephants, giraffes, and many more up close. I think I’d even cry if I were to experience such a thing! For my makeup, I’d keep it simple and just brush up my brows using the only brow product I use these days—Glossier’s Boy Brow in Brown. And then I’d definitely bring a facial mist to keep my skin nourished and hydrated, and to refresh myself whenever it gets too hot—like the 7-Day Vitamin Mist of Ariul. For my outfit, comfort is definitely key. Something light and minimal, like a linen or cotton ensemble in an earth-toned hue and that I can easily move in, sounds ideal for me!

On regular weeknights, I come home to my mom watching TV, and I recently got charmed by Croatia’s beauty because of the series “Make It With You” starring Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil. I admire the fairytale vibe of their beaches, waterfalls, and the brick architecture ornamented with vines and other forms of foliage—it makes me dream of having a summer vacation there someday! Daydreaming about what to wear when I check this off my bucket list in the future, I visualize myself being in a very comfy fit of maybe soft linen or cotton plain polo or blouse, with a cocktail-length flowy printed skirt, and a pair of simple sandals good for long walks. For my face, I would like to keep it as natural as possible since I wouldn’t want to worry about how my makeup could melt nor my skin be damaged for staying under the sun—so I’d like to put on Glossier Invisible Shield (a lightweight sunscreen) and ROM&ND’s Juicy Lip Tint in Pink Pumpkin for a pop of color on my lips.

Since summer is here, a beach will likely be the most visited destination. A dream vacation for me would be visiting the island of Boracay again. I went to Boracay last December, and I fell in love with it. The beauty of the island is just mesmerizing that it made me feel unprepared when I las visited it. But when I have the chance to go to Boracay again, I’ll be bringing the Rude The Lingerie Collection Romantic Nights for my eyeshadow. This will help me be prepared either for a quick picture-taking session along the beach or for a classic night out in a club near the shore. I’ll be pairing the eyeshadow with Painted Cosmetics Moisturizing Lip Serum with Gold Flakes. This will help me avoid having cracked or chapped lips due to the hot weather. The outfits I’ll be bringing will mostly be summer dresses, so I can have a comfy and breathable look that can cover a swimsuit underneath if I need to. The makeup look I want is a little bit orangey because I think it will be a great combination with my fair skin—it’ll help give me a semi-tan look. I now know that a dream vacation will always need plenty of preparation to be memorable. This is why the next time I visit Boracay, I’ll be more prepared.

When we visited La Union recently, I fell in love with its ambiance, strong waves, and relaxing view. That’s the reason why I’m also looking forward to visiting Siargao. I think I’ll find the same vibes that I felt in La Union on this island. I am looking forward to seeing the famous surf spots and good food. My outfit would be just linen long sleeves and I’ll pair it with shorts and white sneakers so I’ll be comfortable anywhere I go. For my makeup, I just want it to be simple but elegant. I’ll be putting a little bit of blush using the Luna Organics Mallow Stain in Holly and enhancing more of my eyelashes with the help of La Localita Lash Express Mascara.
