Nivea has been dubbed the founder of modern skincare, being around for over 100 years, growing its product range tenfold and being present in over 200 countries.
They graciously invited us to Balesin Island for an opportunity to be introduced to their newest development in skincare technology. We were able to join an eclectic mix of people participating in a “The Amazing Race” style wild goose chase around the island, truly sticking to their motto of wanting us to “Come Closer”.
We were educated about Hydra IQ, which is a Nobel Prize winning scientific discovery present in almost all Nivea products, including NIVEA Lotion (Body), Soaps, Lip and Facial products. The result of years of intensive research, Hydra IQ draws inspiration from how blue-green algae regulate their moisture in extreme conditions. Its two main components are glucose and glycerol, substances that are essential for maintaining the skin’s health and moisture levels.
Hydra IQ helps improve the skin’s moisture levels by activating the formation of aquaporins. Aquaporins are proteins in the cell membrane that form pores that allow water molecules to flow freely from cell to cell. Simply put, they are the skin’s hydration channels; they help skin cells moisturize themselves by granting water molecules passage into and out of the cells. Needless to say, the more aquaporins your skin has, the better it is able to intensively and continuously moisturize itself.
As a girl fighting the constant struggle of dry and sensitive skin, Nivea products are an absolute godsend. As a resident of a tropical country with summer just around the corner, it was no surprise that I would be most excited about their Nivea Sun products.
But not all sunscreens are created equal.
According to Alex Schwieger, Country Manager of Beiersdorf Philippines, the official distributor of Nivea, “There are many things to consider before you buy sunscreen. Obviously, it’s not all about the price. Prices change depending on business objectives. Quality does not.”
Nivea Sun offers a wide array of products with various benefits – and offers something for everyone, not only for body but also specifically for the face. Nivea proudly develops products based on skin types, preferences or lifestyle necessities, wanting everyone to feel comfortable in, and be able to care for their skin.
We got the exclusive opportunity to try a large fraction of their current products and were even presented with a chance to check sun damage on our faces via a UV-camera. This cemented within us the idea that tending to the health of your skin is really the ultimate essential in maintaining a beautiful complexion.
There were a lot of familiar faces at the event, including host Tricia Centenera, Kiana Valenciano, Janthina Fong, Mega beauty editor Trina Epilepsia, Status Editor-In-Chief Rosario Herrera, newly married Isabel Roces and brand-new Cosmopolitan beauty-gal Meriam Ahari.
Thank you, Nivea for inviting us to #COMECLOSER!
Special thanks to ARC Public Relations.
