Chicdriven x Mias by Issa Litton
First to rise and last to turn in, women are truly pillars that our society leans on. They go through the day donning many hats in service of their families, careers and community. Of course, not all their duties are confined to the home. Women focus on so many things that keep their days full and busy that they overlook how equally important it is to actually go about their tasks while on the road the safest way possible.
When was the last time a woman put “to arrive at my destination safely” as part of her priority or to-do list? The sad fact is, no one does regardless of gender. And an even more alarming fact is that it’s not guaranteed that you actually do get to where you’re supposed to be. Accidents happen. Public transportation is not only crowded and limited, but let’s face it, unreliable.
A seminar on Road Safety was held as part of the Chicdriven Women Empowerment Expo launch in the recently concluded Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). It was a sneak peek of what the Chicdriven Expo has to offer. Conducted by JP Tuason of TRS DDA, the PTTC stage became the venue where “damsels in distress” on the road were transformed and equipped with the right information to become empowered road users.
Hosted by Issa Litton, participants of the seminar included mommy bloggers, media and “Modern Girls” hosts Denise Laurel, Gretchen Ho and Sam Oh who gamely participated in the games and challenges.
The ChicDriven Women Empowerment Expo aims to bring together passionate individuals who can share their expertise to help inspire and empower women in their quest to “have-it-all.” Free seminars and practical workshops will be offered to help women fulfill the different roles they play. There will be two more legs to look forward to: the Balance leg this July 16-17 at the Glorietta Activity Centre and the Nurture leg on October 1-2 at the Alabang Town Center.
The Chicdriven Expo is supported by Mazda, Standard Insurance, Shell, Foil-A-Carm TRS-DDA, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Glorietta, Alabang Town Center, L’Oreal, F&F, Gap, Butterfly Twist; media partners Metro, Metro Society, Working Mom, Chalk, Lifestyle, Modern Girls, The Asian Parent, Calyxta and Psst!PH.
