The Chicdriven Women Empowerment Expo was held at the Glorietta Activity Center last July 16 & 17, 2016. More than 2,000 participants attended this first leg entitled Balance. The two-day expo offered free seminars that touched on important topics for women and the different roles they play in life. It also had ChicFinds booths and sponsor booths that gave freebies, good deals, and showcased must-have items.
Opening the Chicdriven Expo were Inquirer’s Tessa Prieto-Valdes and Jasmine Curtis-Smith. They joined Chicdriven column author and website founder Jeanette Tuason and co-organizer Issa Litton to celebrate this coming together of passionate individuals to share, inspire, and empower women to have it all.
Chicdriven started as a column in the motoring section and helped women understand the world of cars. It then evolved into a movement to arm women with information and life hacks on how to perform their different roles effectively and efficiently.
The expo featured seminars on Beauty and Fashion featuring Style and Travel blogger Camille Co, Metro Senior Beauty Editor Charmagne Laconico and Calyxta Art Director Margaux Cortez. Presented by L’Oreal Paris and Butterfly Twist, they taught us that we can never and shouldn’t be too busy to be beautiful!
Athletes Ruby Gan and Hilary Isaac, and Ironman certified coach Al Gonzales graced the Active You Seminar offered by PLDT Home and gave tips on how to live a healthy lifestyle.
Empowering road users was the goal of multi-awarded racecar driver and road safety advocate JP Tuason. Together with Mazda, he gave tips on how to be a defensive driver, which starts before you even start the car.
A true expert on financial wellness, TV host and author Chinkee Tan taught the audience about the strength of positive thinking and financial literacy. Mindset plus action yield profitable results.
Mustela’s Sharleen Cu-Unjieng, Aisa Mijeno of SALT (Sustainable Alternative Lighting) and Michelle Fontelera of Zen Zest Asia encouraged the crowd to pursue their plans, be brave and not to limit oneself in entrepreneurial ventures. A special segment on owning your own destiny was also hosted by PRIVA. Participants received great advice on achieving what you want from life and love.
The Life Balance seminar sponsored by Shell Fuel Save revolved around the overall theme of the Balance leg. TV host and mom, Suzi Abrera shared how she balances her work life, parenthood and her marriage. She was joined by one of Manila’s premier life coaches, Kimi Lu, who took the audience through various meditation and relaxation exercises, as well as vision and projection activities.
Chic and Driven Women Take the Stage
The expo ended with the Chic & Driven Fashion show featuring women who embody the Chicdriven ideal.
