Diwatang Maria Embraces and Enhances Pinay Beauty

Move over, Western ideals of beauty—the real goddesses are here! Diwatang Maria is the “made by Filipinos, for Filipinos soap” we’ve all been looking for. Inspired by the pre-colonial mythological creatures, Diwatang Maria feels like the brand that doesn’t impose foreign beauty standards on us. Instead, it only wants our true, Filipina beauty to shine.

‘Diwata’ can be literally translated to “fairy,” which refers to a divine spirit that can either bring you fortune or bad luck. At its best, the diwata can give you positive growth, wealth, good health and luck; otherwise a diwata can bring you illness and bad luck. And while these are all based on myths, the analogy actually makes sense!

Like the diwata, you can care for your body and yield the best results, but feed it with the bad stuff and you can’t expect it to be at its best shape. So how does Diwatang Maria care for our skin? Here are three ways.

Given its dramatic name, the Sinukuan soap is one that doesn’t give up on you. Itchy, irritated, sensitive, and acne-prone—if it seems like you have it all, don’t give up on your skin just yet. Powered with powerful antioxidants, this soap aims to cleanse your skin off its sins, and pamper it naturally with coconut oil, aloe vera, and oatmeal.

Like the goddess of the mountain who protects our crops and shields us from storms, floods, and harm, the Makiling soap does as much to preserve our natural beauty, and promote its health even more. With papaya enzyme and kojic acid, the Makiling soap aims to lighten the skin and fade dark spots, cleanse it from the bacteria of the world, as well as help manage hyper-pigmentation and melasma.

Diwatang Maria Cacao

Yummy as it sounds and looks, the Cacao soap promises the same satisfaction from chocolates (cacao!), or your favorite comfort food. And it is packed with all the pampering ingredients you can find in a soap bar: shea butter for anti-aging, and aloe vera for moisturizing, to name a few. This soap relieves you from all the pain that’s causing you—be it sunburn, skin peeling, irritation, or itching.
